Hello and welcome to the unofficial forum for the demons gate MUD.
As this game is very loosely managed by some wizards that only check in from time to time I thought it would be a great idea for us players to have to possibility to connect with each other in some way.
For new players I personally beleive this is a must to attract more players to this MUD.
Lets get started and write a thread!

Hello, another new player about 4 days old or so, have explored much of Demonsgate and there are some great areas!
Have left several reports about things I have found and had one (brief) interaction with a wizard once.
I look forward to discussion on the forum and in meeting other people in the mud.

Hello Eammon and thanks for you posting!
Tried to get in touch with you by in-game mail but i guess you were occupied at the time. Do you have some nice info to help me update the guild pages?
Or maybe even the quest page?

I was out of town and unavailable except for a brief time. I'll contribute some information to the other boards based on the following. This will be my GENERAL PREFACE for the other boards. . .
Like you I don't want to provide any spoilers, so. . .
A few introductory remarks - I have played other muds, and like some here have played Genesis. One of the things I liked about Demonsgate was not necessarily the lack of information, but the requirement to go out and discover - everything, from guilds to quests to areas. I do think a website listing the basic guilds, races, and available domains and a good helpfile system in place is necessary, but I can recall playing Genesis to adept level only to find out that a website existed with all the quest walk-throughs and other information, it kind of ruined it for me. I am by playing stye a "explorer/achiever" in the Bartle's Taxonomy of player types.
GUILDS: By "walk-up guilds" I mean those that are readily accessible and out in the open. I'll give all the information that is freely shown to the player. For those that are "hidden", or require some special tasks to be performed, I'll only mention the guild and what is freely provided for the game, not how to join it. I'll also provide Area/Realm.
I can only distinguish between occupational and layman based on some of the guidelines that the game provides - specifically how much exerience the guild costs, where that is freely available I'll provide it. The help files for the mud break these into clubs (require no guild tax), racial (3-6%), layman (7-14%), and occupational (12-20%). I may be off because I haven't joined a guild, so others who have can correct me if I am wrong.
Also, much of my starting information came from three sources: 1. The library in Demonia which has books on realms (Ereb Altor, Esgorim and areas, etc.) and guilds. 2. Bulletin boards scattered across the muds which mention the various guilds. 3. Xmas tree event which had ornaments in Demonia for various guilds (recognizing this is incomplete as only certain trees were created).
For quests, I'll use how the mud addresses these - some as tasks, some as quests depending on the question asked to the NPC. Other NPC simply blurt out things you can ask about and this turns into a sequence of events that sometimes leads to an item, sometimes to experience.
Also, add a board for "Clubs" as this is currently lacking.

Thanks for all the info you have added! This is very useful information!
I will be off-line for about 3 weeks on holiday with my family. Will check one here from time to time to see what's going on though!
I'll add a clubs board. Only found the traders yet.

I'll add a clubs board. Only found the traders yet. Duckish Traders are "club" or racial for ducks? Only "club" I know of is Looters Club in Pegana. Have fun on your holiday!

I added some updated information to my layman guild post based on recent exploration. I've tried contacting some wizards via mudmail by mailing the domain/realm but have had no replies.
Middle Earth is not entirely closed. . .there are some tasks to do there but some of them I cannot do at my level. Middle Earth also doesn't show up under <estimate exploration> either. Perhaps its listed under Medieval?
Simply knowing what areas/guilds/clubs *were open* and are now closed would be a great help. I haven't heard from Tofer, didn't he play DG previously? I've seen his name before on boards as a "Citizen of Rivendell", does he have any info he can share? The majority of the time I am on there are only 2 players, I can find the other one running their grinding pattern but they are obviously not availble for conversation :-)

Middle earth is not closed. Or do you mean Grey havens port is open? Both, and there are more areas that are part of "Middle Earth" than Grey Havens. Start with some of the ports from Grey Havens. . .
